Medical & Dental Mission May 2012

Last Wednesday, May 30, 2012,  the Cavite Mayors League in cooperation with the Cavite Provincial Health team and with the helped of Maragondon RHU, conducted a one day Medical-Dental Mission held at the basketball court in Poblacion Maragondon, Cavite . Together with the helped of experienced dentists and doctors, the program turned to be successful. It gave way to find treatments and dental attentions not only for the sick but also for healthy patients. The said event also gave opportunity to young children to experience lectures and demonstrations on proper way of cleaning their teeth. I performed blood sugar testing for those clients that need to know their blood sugar level. The program indeed is a succesful one, hundreds of participants came in this event. Free medicines were given out of this program. As a member of the team I also got a multivitamins for myself.hehe..And i got it for free...

Here are some images I've taken while we are doing the medical mission:

Dengue Inspection Before The School Year

Last May 24, 2012 Thursday, my co-workers and I  toured the different schools of Maragondon, Cavite to promote Dengue awareness and prevention. It is annually done before the start of the new school year because cases are arising during this time of the year. Also, rainy season is coming and it is also a contributing factor to the emergence of the disease. Dengue-carrier mosquitoes are more prevalent during this time of the year. So it is necessary to inspect the different areas on a particular school where mosquitoes are commonly breeding. Just like in tires with stagnant water, plants that occupy water and also the drainage system which files-up with stagnant water, can be a common breeding sites for mosquitoes.

Here are some photos I’ve captured in this activity.

NLE Examination Day Preparations

Board exam is fast-approaching and I know that examinees are now getting nervous. But before that, make sure that you prepare all the necessary stuffs to prevent delays. Here are the following necessary stuffs that you need to keep in mind before you go to your testing area:

  • Application Stub
  • Notice of Admission
  • PRC Official Receipt
  • Pencils (Mongol No. 2)
  • Black ink ballpen
  • One long brown envelope
  • One long plastic envelope (transparent)
  • One Metered-Stamp Window envelope
After preparing the necessary stuffs, you also need to wear the necessary uniform that the PRC required you to wear. Choose one:
Male- school uniform/ white polo shirt (tucked-in)/ clinical uniform
Female- school uniform/white shirt/ clinical uniform

If you prepare all of these, you'll be confident enough to go to your testing area without being cause of delays.

Good Luck Examinees! Good Luck Future Board Passers! :)

Garnier Skin Naturals (01-Ivory) Review

I just want to have a review of this product, the "Garnier Skin Naturals (01-Ivory)". According to the package, it is a visible whitening face powder that has a long-lasting shine free effect.  It is a non-comedogenic, fragrance-free face powder with Vitamin C that inhibits melanin production and SPF 18 that protects you from harmful rays of the sun. It also provide whitening effect and a 6-hour shine-free look in an ultra-light texture. This product is manufactured in Malaysia.

I am a fan of face powders and color yellow stuffs, reason why I purchased this. I didn't hesitate to buy coz it is only Php100+ and a non-comedogenic product. I have a sensitive skin that is why I am looking for a non-comedogenic product. The first time I tried it, I noticed that it covers the blemishes truly and it also has a long-lasting shine-free effect. I was amazed at first in this product regardless of its smell when you apply it because I don't need to reapply the product because it lasted all day long for me but after two weeks of applying, I noticed a tiny bumps on my face. I stopped applying it and the tiny bumps disappeared. Maybe it clogged my pores or something. I didn't consume all the product because I'm afraid that those tiny bumps will reappear again.
The rate of this product for me is 3/5
If someone will gonna ask me if I'm gonna buy this again, I will say NO because of what happened.

Note: The effect may vary from the person's skin type. It may not be effective to me but maybe effective to you. :)

May 31 is a WORLD TOBACCO DAY

Tomorrow, May 31 is the said "World Tobacco Day". I know that many of us are not aware of this event but it really does exist. The Department Of Health is now worried of the increasing rate of smokers here in the Philippines because according to them 2 out of 10 people is dying due to lung diseases caused by smoking. They also said that many people starts smoking at the age of 10 and the rate of smokers increases every year. Because of this, they are now pursuing the Sin Tax Bill wherein the tax for vices such as cigarettes and beers are raised at a higher percentage of tax.

Reaction:
I agree to the said bill because as a nurse and a person who doesn't smoke, it will help a lot in keeping the environment clean and promoting good health not only for Filipinos but also Worldwide. I think people should be open-minded for this bill because the government will not pursue this kind of bill just for their own sake but also for the people who are using and not using it. As a nurse and a Filipino citizen, it will be good if the rate of people dying because of this vice will decrease. We should also be conscious for our health and for the people around us especially to those who are not smoking. I know it will be hard for the smokers but they should also keep in mind that "Smoking is bad for their health".

Iraq Is Now Open For Filipino Nurses

ABS-CBN (Bandila) announced to the public that Iraq is now open for hiring 8,000-10,000 Filipino nurses not only for nurses but also for medical workers and anesthesiologists because according to the ambassador of Iraq they will open 21 hospitals despite the war. The announced salary ranges from $400-$1500 which is equivalent to Php17,000-Php60,000 a month. But regardless of the salary, many Filipinos are still hesitating to work there due to the said war.

Hello Ghost!

It's getting 3am here but still I can't sleep. Anyway, I love watching korean movies and I just wanna share the movie that I had watched. The title of the movie is "Hello Ghost". Yeah I know that it was a 2010 movie but honestly I just discovered this movie yesterday coz a friend recommended this movie to me. Sounds funny right?! Well, anyway, I just want to have a review about it.

The movie, starring Cha Tae-Hyun (as Sang Man), is about a man who always failed to commit suicide and later on leads him to see a ghost. Anyone who sees him, thinks he's going mad/crazy. He is an orphan, living by himself, reason why he wants to commit suicide because he thinks that no one cares for him at all until he met the 4 ghosts. Later on, he fell inlove with the nurse but the ghosts still haunt him everywhere he goes and because of that he helps the ghosts to fulfill their wishes for them to leave him alone. All of the ghosts wishes were successfully fulfilled by Sang-Man and because of that he demanded the four ghosts to leave him alone. At the end of the movie he then remembered that the four ghosts are related to him. They are his family who were lost by a car accident.

Reaction:
I was touched because of the movie. At first I thought the genre is comedy but later on I found myself crying because of this. Yes, I cried especially when the main actor remembered that the four ghosts that he demanded to leave him alone are his lost family. I was very sad because of that. It's so hard to leave alone. No man is an island and if anyone will ask me if I can live with a ghost, I will definitely say yes rather than living alone at all. This movie gave me a lesson that we should value life and the people around us because everyday is a miracle. We all need someone. I know everyone is afraid of being alone, including myself. It is so hard to watch movies alone. It is very sad to eat alone. It is very lonely when we don't have someone to talk to. We should not think of being alone but we should make a move to be with someone whom we can give our care and love to. Just like in this movie, it will teach you how to value a person and every moment that you will spent with that person.
For me. if I'm gonna rate this movie I will give it a 10/10.. :)
So, for anyone out there who's not yet watching this movie, feel free to watch it and you will feel how lucky we are for still having a chance to value life and people around us... :)

Nurse's Celebration Updates for June 2012

Guys! I know it's early for me to post here about this but I just want to remind you all that this coming June 14,2012 is the date for us to celebrate the "National Career Nursing Assistant's Day". Let us celebrate and recognize nursing assistants who dedicated theirselves on their job and on all the individuals who needed care. But before we go further, let us know what Nursing Assistant mean..
Nursing assistant is sometimes referred as nursing aid who assists in the care of patients. They usually work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and other medical staff. They provide personal care for the patients such as bathing, feeding, dressing and other morning cares. in some cases they also take the vital signs of patients. Most of the nursing assistant do the transporting of the patients, making beds and answering calls of the patients.
Although not all hospitals here in the Philippines have nursing assistant job title, some hospitals still celebrate this occasion. So let us all celebrate and give thanks to all nursing assistants out there!.. :)

Miss Know How First Working Experience

I just wanna share my first working experience as a nurse on Naic Doctors Hospital. It is a secondary-private hospital with 30-37 bed capacity. During that time, I think its 2010, when I'm still working there, we are 50+ staff workers together with 20+ volunteer nurses.  Anyway, I enjoyed working there maybe because it was my first experience. I've met new friends, some are true and some, well, I don't know.  I worked there as an OR Nurse. Working as an OR Nurse there in the hospital needs to be alert, active and coherent. Actually at first, I don't want to be an OR Nurse. I am just afraid because it's so hard for me to memorize all the instruments and equipments inside the OR area which made me think that it will make me have a negative remark to the OR Team. But after a month or two, I felt so lucky to experience working in a special area especially meeting and working with the surgeons and the anesthesiologists. I just want to mention also my favorite doctor, he is Dr. Noel Obillo, an anesthesiologist together with his wife, Dra. Cathy Obillo. I considered them as my father and mother in that hospital. They serve as a role model for me. I am very thankful for them because seeing them gives me strength everytime I'm nervous and in trouble. I also met Dr. Villar, an internist, he is very cool and a pro-nurse doctor. He is a kind doctor whom we can count on whenever we need someone to talk to. He is a brilliant doctor reasons why he is loved by his patients together with their relatives as well as the nurses around him. Every off days, nurses visit his house to play badminton and table tennis and we considered these days as bonding time.. In Emergency Room, I also met, Dra. Joyce Arandia. She is the youngest Resident Doctor there. She is simple and a very pretty doctor. Every time we're confuse, she is always there to help us. No words can express how I value them together with my friends in the said hospital.
Many activities in that hospital that made me enjoyed a lot such as Inter-Hospital Sports Fest, Naic Doctors Sports Fest, Christmas Party, Bloodletting Program, etc. It's almost a year when I stopped working there. I still miss the memories I had with the people whom I got close to. The hang-out and sing-along sessions on Dr. Raul Villar's house. The cooking lessons we had on Kuya Ron Climacosa's house and sometimes on Norieffer's apartment. Ate Baboo's funny lines that made me laugh. OR wall to wall cleaning bonding with Tatay August and the co-OR Staff. The "Oh My Golly" expression of Dr. Noel Obillo. Inventories all by myself while Kuya Ron is watching NatGeo.haha. Bonding time with Queency and Ate Yzel @ the side of the Canteen where no one can see us.haha. Ate Nica's laughs everytime we see AMWA's exaggerated expressions. Joke time with Brian "Angat". My Endless greeting to Jerry and a lot more memories that I will  treasure for a lifetime.

Sometimes, when I think of these memories, I want to go back on these days with them around. But I know that my decision is right because now, I am having a new chapter of my life with the memories of them kept inside my heart.
